    Any advice on starting BJJ?

I'm not exactly the best candidate to provide advice on this topic but i'll give it a go.
I would start by looking for classes near you first and foremost.
When getting into it, you really don't need any major knowledge but there are a few things you NEED to take care of.
Hygiene (Clean, nails trimmed, teeth brushed, keep your uniform clean for each use.)
Usually this is common sense but sometimes people don't think about it or miss some aspect and it becomes quite intolerable for your instructor and sparring partners. (If this was obvious overlook this part!)
Basic physical conditioning is a pretty strong requirement, I assume you very likely already have that seeing as you have done a great deal of different activities. But basically you want to be prepared to be worn out completely multiple times.Usually starting classes put sparring partners into "scenarios" like where they have roles to play that help each other both simultaneously gain opposing skills and knowledge over basic movements.
If you wanted to prepare some basic technique before your first class I would suggest keeping it small because applying it is half the battle to learning it. A few short and easy ones:
Various forms of guarding, Mounting, and Americanas arm lock.
Aside from this I would say only two things are left to understand before diving in...
      1. You might not learn something suitable for you on your first lesson, it might even help to talk about the class before showing up to possibly reschedule your first class to a date that is more fitting for your age, build, etc.
This varies tremendously from person to person, some people have advanced learning habits and unnaturally balanced physiques and just GO. Most people have some kind of temporary shortcoming, wall, or issue they must work hard to overcome and several proficiencies by default.
      2. Some people manage to get through the entire thing in as little as 4-5 years.... Fact is most children and adults alike will take 10-15 because there is simply SO much to learn in bjj. It's just one kind of an extremely extensive wrestling culture to top it all off. (That said Tyler is clearly an absolute prodigy and has been proving it for a while.)
      Disclaimer:
Again, i'm not 100% sure my advice is actually all that great. I'm no instructor and I don't have much formal training myself. I do however have a plethora of experience practicing just about every martial art under the sun for recreation with my friends growing up. A few of which were heavily invested into lessons as younger children and taught me countless things I would have never been able to learn by myself.
(That said i'm also extremely dexterous and have an unnaturally high ability to learn faster than over 99% of humans due to obsessing over higher order thinking skills and the essence of learning. So maybe it would even be fair to recommend Blooms taxonomy to enhance learning habits? I'm not sure it works as well for others as it does for me though, this is what all education is based on.) Best of luck, to you! And thank you for providing SO many videos.
I'm always looking for these "closer to reality" youtubers with content to pass my time instead of these unrealistic / overly viral ones.

@@worthlessemail3626 Thanks. That's very thorough. I should mention that like Tyler, I'm already experienced in Tae Kwon Do, but I've been a 2nd degree black belt for several years and he just became a 2nd degree black belt.

Yeah, I noticed after going through some of your content. That was actually a really awesome video, the malcom in the middle shirt really blew my mind I hadn't even thought of that show in YEARS. and the boy looking over your back near the end looks JUST like the boy who plays as young sheldons older brother. It was a really neat compilation overall with multiple points of interest. (Not even to mention seeing the comradery of your fellow students! Thousands of words there.)

@@worthlessemail3626 Indeed. Thanks. I'm 39 years old, nearly the same age Frankie Muniz is now. I don't wear that shirt anymore though, as I wore it out years ago and it probably wouldn't fit me anymore anyway. Also, I had to quit Tae Kwon Do due to the pandemic.
